Care & Maintenance of Refinished Fixtures

Warranty

Our standard reglazing process carries a one year warranty against defects in material or workmanship. The reglazing is not warranted against chipping, scratching, wear-and-tear, or other man-made damage caused by rust, leaking faucets, failed caulking or standing water.

Your New Finish

The bathtub can be used the following day, but the finish requires at least three weeks to fully cure and harden. Although your new surface will be very clean and glossy, this is a resurface and will never be quite as durable as the original porcelain or fiberglass finish. Small imperfections in the surface are common after reglazing, and most of these will smooth out over time. The paint smell will dissipate in a few hours. After waiting at least four hours, you can turn on the bathroom fan or open a window to help ventilate.

Care and Maintenance

Regular cleaning is important to prevent dirt and soap scum build-up that will hide the beauty of the finish. Clean with warm water and liquid detergents. Look for products that state on the label they are safe for fiberglass, acrylic or painted surfaces.

  • Do not use bathmats or any suction cups on the finish. Bathmats/decals will eventually ruin the painted surface.
  • Use soft detergents for cleaning. Harsh abrasives like Ajax or green scrubbies will scratch the surface.
  • Leaky faucets will permanently stain the finish. Standing water has the same effect.
  • Do not use acids or solvents to clean the finish. If using a drain opener, carefully pour it into the drain, trying not to spill it on the finished surface.
  • Avoid putting any type of tape on surface for this three week period.
  • To keep your bathtub looking great for years, do not store soap, shampoo, bath oil, etc. on the corner ledge. Water is trapped underneath and in time, this can cause the finish to discolor. A hanging shower caddy works well to store these things away from the surface.
  • Liquid car wax works well to protect the finish and make it easier to clean. Follow the directions on the container. Waxing around the drain will also keep water and rust stains from forming. Apply wax every 3 months or so. Never wax the bottom of the bathtub. It makes it slippery and dangerous.
  • Never allow nail polish remover to come in contact with the finish as it causes damage to the finish.

* Items listed above may void the warranty.
